It was an agog Ikire Day celebration as the astute politician, seasoned administrator, Omo Apesin of Ikireland, Senate Deputy Minority Leader, Akogun Lere Oyewumi, led hundreds of friends, associates, and Peoples Democratic Party members to bombard Ayedaade High School Ikire to celebrate Ikire Day. Inside a capacity-filled event tent were Ikire indigenes, social clubs, artisans, and members of the Peoples Democratic Party loyal to Akogun Lere Oyewumi in colorful attires to pledge their loyalty, support, and celebrate with Omo Apesin of the source.
Akogun Lere Oyewumi was accompanied by MHR Irewole/Isokan/Ayedaade Federal Constituency, Hon. Lanre Oladebo, Hon. Biola Inaolaji, and members of the Osun House of Assembly. Sen. Lere Oyewumi commended the gathering of kinsmen to celebrate Ikire Day, describing it as a chord of unity and culture that fosters peaceful coexistence. The lawmaker expressed his profound gratitude to the people of Ikire for their support, love, and prayers for him and his administration ever since he assumed office.
Senator Lere Oyewumi implored the planning committee and IPU Chairman to divert all the donations at the Ikire Day celebration to a developmental project at Osun State University, Ikire Campus. Senator Oyewumi promised to complete the town hall that is worth over 50 million naira to depict the value of Ikire people; their social status; their tastes and class, all of which are reflected in the heritage of the town. He equally promised to do the perimeter fencing of the university while continuing to facilitate developmental strides in Ikire and the Osun West senatorial district.
The Member of the House of Representatives for Irewole/Isokan/Ayedaade Federal Constituency, Hon. Lanre Oladebo, also congratulated and celebrated with Akogun Lere Oyewumi, Akire of Ikireland, and the sons and daughters of the town on the occasion of Ikire Day. While speaking at the event, he appreciated Senator Oyewumi for his tremendous contributions to the growth and development of Ikire and donated a sum of 5 million naira for the development of the town. Hon. Biola Inaolaji equally donated 1 million naira, while his colleagues donated 500,000 naira.
Senator Lere Oyewumi appreciated the magnanimity and kind-hearted gesture of Hon. Lanre Oladebo, Hon. Biola Inaolaji, and his colleagues, Osun Commissioner for Energy, Hon. Festus Adeyemo, and other donors towards the development of Ikireland.
