In a commendable effort to promote grassroots economic development, Senate Deputy Minority Leader, Akogun Lere Oyewumi, PhD, representing Osun West Senatorial District, has today empowered over 200 market women of the Osun West Senatorial District. The disbursed amounts, which were part of the funds allocated during a skill acquisition program meant to help the women run their businesses smoothly, are part of a long-term plan by the senator to educate and empower women in his area of representation.
The beneficiaries appreciated the intervention, and the women vowed to make good use of the assistance granted to them by the senator. Every one of them rejoiced at the generosity of Senator Oyewumi, describing how he had made great efforts to solve their financial problems. They described the initiative as "Opportunities," stressing that the money received will help improve their businesses and their lives.

who attended the program as the representative of the Governor, also endorsed Senator Oyewumi’s virtues. She appreciated the senator for sponsoring projects for the people and noted that such projects were consistent with the policies of the state government aimed at enhancing the abilities of the people and women.
The program was attended by community leaders, religious leaders, and political stakeholders across Osun West.
