Senator Lere Oyewumi Flags Off Construction of 1.2km Oke Ola/ Oluofinrin/Anajere Road in Irewole Local Government

In a significant move towards infrastructural development, the Deputy Minority Leader of the Senate, Senator Akogun Lere Oyewumi, PhD, has flagged off the construction of the Oke Ola Oluofinrin/Anajere road in Irewole Local Government. The event, held at Oke Ola junction, Ikire was graced by his wife, Yeye Akogun Omolara Oyewumi, and several dignitaries.


Senator Oyewumi, during the flag-off ceremony, expressed his commitment to enhancing the road network within the Osun West senatorial district. He announced plans to initiate more road projects in the near future, emphasizing that the current project is just the beginning of a series of developments aimed at boosting connectivity, economic activities, and overall quality of life in the area.


“I can assure you that we’re just getting started, and in the coming months, more roads will be flagged off and more empowerment programs are coming. We don’t talk too much but want our actions to speak for us after four years,” said Senator Oyewumi. He assured the residents of Osun West that no part of the district would be neglected, reaffirming his dedication to their welfare and development.


HRM Akire of Ikire, Oba Olatunde Falabi Olabemloye III, also attended the event, offering prayers for the project's success. The monarch lauded Senator Oyewumi for his unwavering commitment to the region's development and vision for a prosperous Ikire. "This is a significant step towards improving the lives of our people and boosting the local economy," Oba Falabi remarked. He called on the people of Ikire to support the project and urged the contractor to deliver a quality road that will stand the test of time.


Hon. Biola Inaolaji, representing the Irewole/Isokan State Constituency, along with Commissioner for Energy Hon. Festus Ademola Adeyemo and Former Caretaker Chairman of Irewole LG Hon. Jide Jooda, expressed their gratitude for Senator Oyewumi's dedication to infrastructure improvement. They appealed to the residents to cooperate with the construction efforts and endure any inconveniences during the project.


The event witnessed the presence of several notable figures, including Hon. Adesoye, Osun West PDP Senatorial Chairman; Former Irewole LCDA Chairman Hon. Kola Akinpelu; Hon. Wale Oluloye; Aare Jolaiye Moshood; Alh. Tiamiyu Alidu Adeoye, Iwo PDP Chairman; TESCOM Commissioner Hon. Sikiru Adelakin; the Chief Imam of Ikire; CAN representatives; and community leaders. They all commended Senator Oyewumi for his efforts in improving the region's infrastructure and economy.


The construction of the Oke Ola Oluofinrin/Anajere road is expected to significantly impact the agricultural sector and contribute to the overall development of the region.
