The Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria today took the first reading of a bill to establish a Federal Medical Centre in Ikire, Osun State. The bill, sponsored by Senator Akogun Lere Kamorudeen Oyewumi PhD, aims to improve healthcare access and delivery in the region.
The proposed medical centre is expected to provide comprehensive healthcare services to residents of Osun State, particularly Osun West Senatorial District where there is a paucity of health facilities. The centre will provide general and specialized medical care, diagnostic services, orthopedic, and emergency care.
During the reading, Senator Akogun Lere Kamorudeen Oyewumi highlighted the pressing need for enhanced healthcare infrastructure in the region, emphasizing the challenges faced by residents in accessing quality medical care.
