The Deputy Minority Leader, Senator Around Lere Kamorudeen Oyewumi felicitates with the Muslim Ummah on this year’s celebration of Eid al-Adha and urged Nigerians to make the fear of God the foundation for their lives.

The Mayegun Adinni Irewole/Isokan/Ayedaade federal constituency, Akogun Kamorudeen Lere Oyewumi, in a goodwill message to Nigerians to commemorate the Eid al-Adha, said the Eid al-Adha, the “Festival of Sacrifice,” symbolized the fear of Allah, faith, devotion, and the desire of man to always comply with the wish of his creator as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim.

Oyewumi described the important festival as a day to commemorate the willingness of the Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son Ismail (Ishmael) as an act of obedience to Allah’s command.

He noted that with the fear of Allah, mutual respect, and love, “we will tolerate one another, work together, and be able to harness our abundant resources as a nation. We cannot achieve much with unnecessary factions and disharmony. What Nigerians need now is to move forward.”

He also called on all Nigerians to imbibe the spirit of love, tolerance, and mutual respect, adding that these virtues were the panacea to move the nation forward. Oyewumi charged Nigerians to come together at this auspicious time to “celebrate our diversity and strengthen our bonds as one nation. “As we celebrate Eid al-Adha, we should also remember those who are less fortunate and those affected by the current challenges in our country by extending love in solidarity and support for one another.”

Oyewumi charged Muslims to continue to pray for the government, the Military, and other agencies in the fight against insurgency, adding that the peace and socio-economic development of our nation remain paramount.

“Once again, I congratulate all Nigerians on this auspicious occasion and wish everyone a happy Eid al-Adha.”
