In a celebration of unwavering commitment and remarkable dedication to stability and development in Nigeria, the organizers of the annual National Leadership Award honored the Deputy Minority Leader of the Senate, Akogun Lere Oyewumi, as the 'Senator Of The Year' in recognition of his contribution to the political development of the nation. The award ceremony was held at Merit House, Maitama Abuja. Sen. Oyewumi was represented by Yeye Akogun Oyewumi, flanked by SSA on Federal Affairs to Osun Governor, Abiodun Suraju Oladoyin.
Receiving the award on behalf of Senator Lere Oyewumi, Yeye Akogun Omolara expressed gratitude for the honor bestowed upon her husband. She noted that the award serves as motivation and a call to go the extra mile in empowering more constituents and Nigerians. She reaffirmed the lawmaker's commitment to continue striving towards creating a Nigeria where compassion and support are extended to all, regardless of tribe or circumstance.
Senator Lere Oyewumi, however, appreciated the organizers of the National Leadership Award for identifying with him and described the honor as a challenge for more purposeful representation in the Red Chamber. He stressed that he would continue rendering selfless services to humanity while looking up to God for continued strength, grace, and protection to continue his services to humanity, the senatorial district, and the country at large.
