It was exciting and fanfare as the Deputy Minority Leader of the Senate, Akogun Lere Oyewumi PhD flagged off the construction and tarring of Oluponna township road in Ayedire Local Government in Osun West Senatorial District. The Senator at the occasion was represented by his team. The team led by Osun West Senatorial Chairman, Hon. Adesoye Oyetunde welcomed all the PDP stakeholders and thanked them for honoring the invitation for the flag-off of the road construction.
“If you could recall, the Senator promised to work on this road during our electioneering tour which is requiring attention for a long time. It's not a gaming day that the residents of Oluponna, including commercial drivers have suffered a lot due to the dilapidated state of the road. I'm sure that the construction and tarring of the road attracted by Senator Oyewumi will help to alleviate the sufferings of the people plying the road. This project attracted by the senator has complimented the efforts of the state government in ensuring total infrastructural development of the state. The distinguished senator has made us proud", Hon Adesoye said.
Olupo of Oluponna, HRM Oba Abdul-Rafiu Mosobalaje who was full appreciation commended the senator on his giant strides at the National Assembly and assured him of royal blessings and fatherly support always.
"Since I have been enthroned as Olupo of Oluponna, today is my happiest because my efforts in seeing a better Oluponna is coming to fruition, I am grateful to Senator Olalere Oyewumi and he has my blessings and support for this he has attracted to my community.
"My subjects are overwhelmed over the development and would do everything possible to protect and support the project”. He said
In his remarks, a community leader Otunba Julius Akinlabi said he was elated to witness the construction of the road which been abandoned for more than 20 years and emphasized the commitment by Senator Oyewumi which revolves around a purposeful representation of the senatorial district and to place ahead in infrastructure development among her contemporaries which would fast track the and create an enabling environment for economy to thrive in the senatorial district and make life more meaningful to the residents.
The Contractor representing the construction company, Hi Tech equally gave assurances to construct and tarred the road without compromising standards to ensure optimal quality of work and deliver within a very reasonable time to ease the suffering of residents and motorist plying the road.
