Officials of the United States of America Embassy today paid a courtesy call on the Deputy Minority Leader of the Senate, Akogun Lere Oyewumi. The delegation was led by the Political Officer, Madam Amanda Whatley, accompanied by Mrs. Victoria IBI and Mr. Musa Mohammed. At the meeting, Senator Oyewumi and the USA delegation discussed the current political status of the country. He briefed them on the government's efforts to establish peace and stability in the country to create an enabling environment for local and foreign investors.
Senator Lere Oyewumi extolled the existing robust bilateral relations between Nigeria and the USA, just as he sought more support from the country to better the lives of Osun West residents. "Over the decades, our ties and shared values for human ideals had further cemented the bonds that existed between the two countries. This visit is a further step towards deepening the economic, socio-political, and democratic ties of our nations," he noted.
Senator Lere Oyewumi stressed that Osun West Senatorial District is eager to establish and sustain a collaborative relationship with the country as the partnership would play a pivotal role in alleviating poverty and enhancing Osun West Senatorial District welfarism. "We want to see more engagements in the education sector, health sector, digital skills acquisition for youths, and the capital market, as this will lead to more economic opportunities and prosperity for both countries", he said.
The head of the US team, Madam Amanda Whatley said the visit was aimed at reinvigorating the existing relationship between the two countries and a collaboration in the Osun West senatorial district as the legislator requested, while boosting extant partnerships. Reiterating that the USA is always a friend of the Nigerians, Amanda Whatley assured of America’s continuous support and cooperation to Osun West senatorial district and the country at large.
