The Deputy Minority Leader of the Senate, Akogun Lere Oyewumi has called on Nigerians to always recognize and support the sacrifices and contributions of members of the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) in protecting the territorial integrity of the country. The exploits of our Armed Forces to maintain peace as well as their disposition to the unity of Nigeria have contributed in no small measure to our stability.
Senator Oyewumi said the sacrifices of the nation’s fallen heroes will always be remembered for the supreme price they paid to protect the territorial integrity of the country. He noted that the National Assembly will continue to work closely with the executive through appropriation and special intervention funds for the military to enhance their perfor
mance and exceptional service.
"We must celebrate the fallen heroes as the pride of our country. Our faith in our Armed Forces remains unshaken and as government, we will ensure that our Armed Forces are motivated to perform optimally. Let's honor the memory of our gallant officers and men who have paid the supreme sacrifice to keep the country united as one entity," he added.
"The nation remains grateful for the efforts and sacrifice of the Armed Forces especially in the fight against insurgency and other internal security challenges confronting Nigeria". Senator Oyewumi equally called on all Nigerians to make generous donations to the Nigerian Legion, support the widows and orphans of fallen heroes, procure the emblems, and wear them with pride.
