Senator 'Lere Oyewumi Ph.D, the senator representing the Osun West Senatorial District at the Senate, has congratulated the people of Iwo on the auspicious occasion of Iwo Day.
The deputy minority leader of the Senate stressed the importance of such occasions on community development and the sense of unity capable of providing a platform for enhanced understanding, collective pursuit of beneficial agenda and goal-setting.
According to him, coming together yearly on a dedicated day, marked with merriment, increases communal bonds and projects one's community positively to the outside world. He added that the people of Iwo have invested so much in keeping this tradition going.
Thus, he specially felicitated Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi Telu 1, the Oluwo of Iwoland, for his continued effort in extending his peace effort beyond his domain.
"Oluwo has earned a reputation as a national peace advocate with a perfect blend of royalty, humility and demonstrable commitment to global peace," Senator Oyewumi said. "Our traditional ruler has consistently showed fidelity to his courageous views on issues that are central to our country's existence, even at the risk of offending the powerful. That's the person of Oluwo."
"I appreciate your modesty and keeping Iwo peaceful for all the live. As a lawmaker representing Osun West Senatorial District, I am committed to working assiduously to attract key social infrastructure from the central government to the district and provide legislative interventions necessary in tandem with the needs and aspirations of our people."
