OSUN WEST SENATORIAL CANDIDATE OF PEOPLE'S DEMOCRATIC PARTY ELABORATES ON HOW ICT CAN EMPOWER YOUTHS TO BECOME SELF-RELIANT

Nigeria population is increasing everyday and we need to design templates to accommodate our Youths in the society and by so doing this,the rate of criminalities will drastically reduce in our society. I had an experienced in the system of National Population Commission NPC and I understand why it's important to accommodate or engage Youths in our society. Jobless youth can never be productive to himself or herself,to the parents,to the economy and to the Nation.Our youth in Nigeria are potential and ready to make use of any opportunities giving to them.
Youth in our society has the highest percentage as Nigeria Population is concern.And It has been discovered that,when youth are jobless doing nothing,it will be very easy to initiate or influence such person into antisocial gang i.e we need to engage our Youth to become self-reliant and keep them busy doing something.
Youth, ICT and development. ICT has played an important role in young people's development expecially to prominence on a global scale. The collaboration between international Telecommunication Unit ITU and UN-Habitat has highlighted that ICT has helped Youth in mobilizing, collaborating and given them a voice where there was none before. ICT has brought Youth together in response to Social concerns and has connected them across vast of geopolitical barriers.
Akogun Lere made it known in Odeomu, Ayedaade local governments on Jan. 1st, when the youth representatives from Ayedaade paid him a courtesy visit in his house, that, It has been discovered by the youths, that access to Informations is very crucial towards better access to capital,markets,and training. Aside this, participation in Political process increase through ICT,youths are recognizing as responsible citizens in the society presently through ICT processes. It is also found that Youth entrepreneurship as a solution for the youth employment and of which ICT has facilitated them in enhancing their access Informations.
Youth in the rural areas often have less access to technological assets than their counterpart youth in urban areas. ICT is a mechanism which have impacted and improving the living conditions of most rural communities that act as a strategy for rural community development through bridging digital divide
The initiative of ICT has been efficient in tackling unemployment and building the required skills and competence in entrepreneurship. Akogun Lere Oyewumi urged youth to make use of ICT opportunity to actualize their full potential, adding that the important of knowledge is to utilize it. According to him he said, Youths will use the knowledge to build an inclusive society by leveraging on ICT skills.
Osun West Senatorial Candidate of the People's Democratic Party urged both private and public sector organization including Political office holders and wealthy people in our society to encourage youth in our society by invest more on ICT as a means of eradicating poverty,improve education system,reduce unemployment and also create job for the young citizens.
On my 6 point Agenda,number two agenda has capture ICT. We have focus and good plans for our youth on ICT skills and we are going to implement it if luckily emerge as Osun West Senatorial Representative of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and this will help many of our Youth for skill acquisition and employment opportunity for the youth.
Furthermore,Dr Lere Oyewumi Kamorudeen stipulated the benefits of ICT towards Rural Positive Youth Development;
1. Improve Competency of our Youth
2. Connect our Youths to the world or International opportunities.
3. ICT can be as incentives to the Youth in productive activities for their involvement. And this will reduce their involvement in gang violence or criminal attitude when they were more attach to ICT and also reduced unemployment rate in our society.
4. ICT will build more confidence in Youth and it can increase external aspirational horizons and interior measure of self-worth and capacity.
5. It assist our Youths to contribute to what is going on around the world and also exposed them to different Opportunities.
Obviously,Dr Lere Oyewumi Kamorudeen understood the basic needs of the Youths in our society in which it has been projected on his 6 point agenda for the benefit of the Youths in Osun West Senatorial District and we need to advocate that,all Youths in Osun West should Support,Vote and canvas for the Candidacy of Akogun Lere Oyewumi and all PDP Candidates in the forthcoming 2023 general election so that we can benefit on his projected dividend of Democracy.
